At Joyland, we believe in the holistic development of each child, nurturing the spiritual, psychological, cognitive, and physical growth of the child.Additional to the developmental curriculum (enriched CAPS curriculum for GrR) we have our Biblical curriculum.We focus on providing a firm biblical foundation, alongside age-appropriate learning experiences that ignite a love for learning. We work hard to ensure that your child's early educational journey is filled with joy, excitement, and a sense of discovery that sets the stage for lifelong learning.
We embrace traditional teaching methods that protects children against over stimulation.Joyland is a screen-free environment, allowing children to thrive through meaningful outdoor and indoor play. Our educational approach is rooted in psychological child development principles, ensuring that the class activities are age appropriate and developmentally all encompassing.
Services we offer
At Joyland Preschool, we offer a comprehensive educational program and general child care is designed to meet the developmental needs of every child in every phase. We provide:
A Christian-based curriculum with weekly Bible study devotion programs led by the children’s pastor and principal and the church’s children’s ministry, the Incredible Kids team.
Age-appropriate learning experiences that promote a love for learning and sparks and encourages a child’s imagination. Our age-specific curriculum focuses on key areas such as language development, fine and gross motor skills, visual and auditory perception, cognitive growth, numerical understanding and basic mathematical skills, musical and artistic expression, sensory exploration, and imaginative play.
A nurturing and safe environment where children are unconditionally accepted and loved and can explore, grow, and develop their full potential.
Extra-mural activities are included in the monthly fees to ensure a well-rounded education and development. We believe that what some may consider extra-mural activities, to be essential life skills. That’s why our monthly fees include swimming, music, art, and dance—activities that enrich our students’ lives and foster their growth.
Affordable, inclusive fees designed to accommodate different economic households and situations. Our fees include meals, an afternoon snack and drinks prepared on the premises by who everyone knows as Chef Mandy.

- We have multiple large outdoor and indoor play areas, providing ample space for children to explore, create, and develop their gross motor skills.
- Our outdoor play areas are equipped with high-quality playground equipment that encourages physical activity, socializing and friendship development and imaginative play, all under careful supervision. We offer huge outdoor grass play areas with carefully selected climb apparatus for age appropriate gross motor development. Extensive bike and cycle paths with a wide variety of bikes and tjam tjam scooters, tricycles and wagons.
- We also offer a netted sports field and an on-site fenced swimming pool with large steps to make entry easier for our smaller ones.
- Inside, our classrooms are bright, welcoming, and conducive to learning, providing a happy space where children can explore new concepts and engage with their peers and teachers.

Our history
Founded in 1995, Joyland Preschool began as a children’s ministry under the care of the West Rand Lutheran Church (WRLC), one of the oldest churches in Wilropark,
Johannesburg. Over the years, we’ve been blessed by the support of our community, and in turn, we are committed to giving back. With children and youth at the heart of our ministry, we are passionate about laying a strong foundation for young lives. The first 5-6 years are crucial for development, and we’re here to partner with you in shaping those formative years, offering love, care, and a biblical foundation.

- All extra-mural activities are included in the monthly rates, so families can rest assured knowing that there are no hidden costs. Upon enrollment, an annual registration fee is charged. Concerts, fundraising events or trips conducted by the school will always be communicated well in advance.
